About Machikane Festival
Machikane Festival is the festival of The University of Osaka held in November. It started when the "Sports and Culture Festival" held until 1960 was changed to "University Festival", and this year marks the 66th time. The name "Machikane Festival" was decided by public offering in 1996 when the university festival became officially recognized by the university.
This year, the outdoor projects' area has been expanded, and the fair project that was held before the COVID-19 pandemic will be revived as an outdoor project! There are projects such as shooting and throwing that you cannot experience indoors. Machikane Festival is constantly changing. Whether you are visiting for the first time or have come many times, please enjoy the 2025 Machikane Festival that only happens once!
Also, in addition to 200 diverse student projects, laboratory tours are also held mainly in the Faculty of Science and the School of Engineering Science. Please enjoy not only the excitement of club activities but also the laboratories that you usually cannot see.
About Project Categories
In-facility projects
Projects such as performances, sales, experiences, and exhibitions held in Center for Education in CELAS, Graduate School of Law and Economics Buildings, and Student Union are called In-facility Projects. More than a half of the projects are held in this area, and many projects full of the personalities of each group, such as exhibitions and concerts, are held mainly by cultural groups. If you are wondering "What kind of clubs are there at Handai?", please come to the In-Facility Projects first! About 100 groups are waiting for you!! Why don't you go find the "interesting" of The University of Osaka that you don't know?
Outdoor projects
Projects such as performances, sales, and exhibitions held outside the buildings such as the ground and in front of Building C, excluding food stall tents, are called Outdoor Projects. Also, newly exhibited on the Main Street! This year, we are expanding the scale by holding some fair-style projects on the Main Street and the Ground! Various projects that you cannot experience indoors are being held. Please enjoy the new Outdoor Projects!! Check the map for details of project locations.
Food stalls
Projects providing food held in a part of the Main Street and on the Ground. You can enjoy various foods like drinks, noodles, snacks, and sweets! It will also be fun when you are wondering what to eat! Also, you must feel the personalities, enthusiasm, and youth of various groups overflowing from the tents!! Please come to the tents in the Food Stalls area!! Please use designated eating areas on the Ground when you eat. Some rest seats are also on the Main Street, but please use the eating area when you eat. Also this year, allergy information is displayed at each tent.
Stage Performances
Band and dance performances held on two stages; Stage Sora (in front of Kasane) and Stage Kanade (in front of Quartier). At Stage Sora, you can enjoy various powerful performances like dance. You will surely be fascinated by their coolness! At Stage Kanade, performances with lighting, smoke, and authentic sound equipment are held! Rally Projects
Stamp rallies, quiz rallies, and other projects held by some groups in In-Facility Projects, Outdoor Projects, and Food Stalls. You go around checkpoints to collect stamps. The starting point is at the classroom of the group or the tent on the Main Street, You can enjoy the rallies while visiting various places on campus, enjoying the projects and stage performances!
